Terms of Service

Last updated 21 August 2026

These terms govern your use of the Family Thrive app provided by Family Thrive Technologies. By creating an account you agree to them.

Who provides Family Thrive

Family Thrive is provided and licensed to you by Family Thrive Technologies (registration 2026/628446/07), registered in South Africa. We are the developer and product provider, and you contract with us for use of the app.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 and the parent or legal guardian of any child you add. Accounts are for adults; children use the app only through Kid Mode, which a parent sets up.

Your account

Keep your password and your family, co-parent and kid codes private. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us immediately at familythrivetechnologies@gmail.com if you think someone else has access.

Subscriptions and billing

Family and Co-parenting Family are monthly recurring subscriptions. Your subscription renews automatically each month at the price you signed up on, until you cancel it. Prices are localized to your country and are tax-inclusive: the amount shown before you confirm your purchase is the amount you are charged. There is currently no annual plan.

Full details of each plan, renewal, upgrades, downgrades and cancellation are set out in our Subscription Terms, which form part of these terms.

Free trial

New families get a 7-day free trial. No card is required for the trial and starting it does not create a paid subscription or authorise any charge. A paid subscription only begins if you choose a plan and complete checkout.

Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time inside Family Thrive under "Your plan" — you do not need to email us to cancel. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you have already paid for. You keep full access until that date, and you are not charged again after it. You can reverse a scheduled cancellation before it takes effect, and you can resubscribe later.

Changing plans

Upgrading from Family to Co-parenting Family takes effect immediately, with any applicable prorated amount calculated by Paddle. Downgrading from Co-parenting Family to Family takes effect at your next renewal; you keep the higher plan's features until then and no mid-period refund is given for the difference.

Failed payments and expiry

If a renewal payment fails, your subscription may be marked past due. We will ask you to update your payment method and your family keeps access for a short grace period. If the payment is not resolved, access to paid features is restricted and the subscription eventually expires.

Your data after a subscription ends

Expiry or cancellation does not delete your family's history. You can still sign in to export your data and you can resubscribe at any time. Deleting your account and its data is always your own choice, in Settings.

Payments — Merchant of Record

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

Payment, billing, tax, invoicing and refund mechanics are governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms. Paddle does not own or operate Family Thrive: product support stays with us, while payment and order support is handled by Paddle at paddle.net.

Refunds

Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy. Cancelling a subscription and requesting a refund are separate processes.

Acceptable use

Don't use the app to store unlawful content, to harass anyone, to attempt to access another family's data, or to probe, scan or overload the service. Don't reverse engineer the app, resell or redistribute it, or work around its technical limits. We may suspend accounts that do.

Intellectual property

Family Thrive Technologies owns the Family Thrive software, content, documentation, name and branding, and all related intellectual property. You get a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the app for your own family under the plan you are on. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership to you.

Your content

The information you add stays yours. You give us only the permission needed to store, sync and display it to the people in your family. We don't use it to train models or sell it.

Not professional advice

Parenting suggestions, wellbeing scores and coaching content in the app are general information only. They are not medical, psychological, educational or legal advice. If you are concerned about a child's health or development, speak to a qualified professional.

Availability and liability

We aim to keep the service running but provide it "as is", and do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent permitted by the law that applies to you, we exclude implied warranties, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data where you have not kept your own export. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and your non-waivable statutory consumer rights are unaffected.

Termination

You can stop using Family Thrive at any time and delete your account in Settings, which deletes your family's data. We may suspend or end access for material breach of these terms, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious policy violations. Before we end access for anything other than an urgent security or legal reason, we will give you a reasonable opportunity to export your data.

Using Family Thrive from your country

Family Thrive is operated from South Africa and made available to families internationally. We don't promise that the app, or every feature in it, is appropriate or available in every country, and you are responsible for complying with the laws that apply where you use it. You may not use Family Thrive if you are subject to sanctions or located in a country subject to comprehensive trade sanctions that would make providing it to you unlawful.

These terms and our policies are written in English. Where we provide a translation, the English version prevails if there is any conflict.

Governing law and disputes

These terms and any dispute arising out of them are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa, and the courts of South Africa have jurisdiction.

Nothing in this clause deprives you of the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country in which you live, and where the law of your country gives you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts, that right is unaffected. If you are a consumer in the EEA or the United Kingdom, you may also bring a claim in the courts of your own country.

Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us at familythrivetechnologies@gmail.com so we can try to resolve the matter directly — we would much rather sort it out with you than argue about it.

Changes and contact

We'll post updates on this page and ask you to re-accept material changes. Questions: familythrivetechnologies@gmail.com.
